THE Philippine National Police has urged the public to be more vigilant especially those who are leaving their homes for the Holy Week.

PNP Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina said there are safety reminders that will help save lives and properties.

“Every member of the community will play a vital role in our aim to maintain peace and order and security in our country. Our Crime Prevention and Safety Tips can help prevent or reduce the people’s chances of becoming a victim of lawless activities and criminals particularly members of Akyat-Bahay Gang,” he said.

KUNG IIWANAN NA WALANG BANTAY SA BAHAY

  1. Ikandado ang lahat ng pinto at bintana; tiyakin na walang dadaanan ang sinuman na may tangkang pumasok at magnakaw;
  2. Mainam kung may “burglar alarm” para maalerto ang mga kapitbahay kung may pumasok sa kabahayan;
  3. Iwasang mag-iwan ng notes sa labas ng bahay na nagsasabing walang tao sa loob. Mainam din na iwanan na bukas ang radyo para kunwari ay may tao sa loob ng bahay;
  4. Itagubilin sa pinagkatiwalaang kapitbahay ang inyong bahay at ipaalam din kung kailan kayo babalik;
  5. Tiyakin na walang naiwan na nakasinding kandila, bukas na electric o gas stove o tumutulong gripo ng tubig at naka-plug na appliances;

  1. Bago bumiyahe, tiyakin na maayos at walang problema ang sasakyan, at tandaan ang mga sumusunod: Battery, Light, Oil, Water, Brakes, Air and Gas o BLOWBAG;
  2. Tiyakin na kumpleto ang dokumento mo sa pagmamaneho at papeles ng sasakyan, kasama ang Insurance Certificate;
  3. Tiyaking naka-safety lock ang mga pinto at bintana lalo na kung may kasamang mga bata sa sasakyan;
  4. Sa pagmamaneho, tiyakin na palaging kontrolado mo ang sasakyan. Iwasan ang one-hand driving o paggamit ng cellphone habang nagmamaneho, kung nakainom ng alak, nahihilo o inaantok;
  5. Kung nagmamaneho sa gabi, gamitin nang wasto ang headlights at signal lights. Huwag magmaneho kung malabo ang paningin.

KUNG GAGAMIT NG PAMPUBLIKONG SASAKYAN

  1. Iwasang magsuot ng mga mamahaling alahas o magdala ng malaking halaga ng salapi. Ingatan ang cellphone, at appliances na malimit dalhin tuwing bakasyon;
  2. Iwasang magdala ng maraming gamit para maiwasan ang pagkawala ng mga ito at para hindi mahirapan sa biyahe;
  3. Mainam na maging maaga sa istasyon ng bus/tren, pier at paliparan upang maiwasan ang siksikan at matiyak na maayos ang puwesto sa sasakyan, lalo na para sa mga kababaihan, bata at senior citizens;
  4. Kung may mapansin na kakaiba tulad ng bagahe o kahon na maaaring pinaglagyan ng bomba, kaduda-dudang pagkilos ng tao sa istasyon, pier, paliparan o sa loob mismo ng bus, tren, barko o eroplano, palihim na ipaalam agad sa kinauukulan;
  5. Mag-ingat sa mga mandurukot sa istasyon at sa loob ng sasakyan. May mga nakatalagang Police Assistance Post sa bawat istasyon, pier o paliparan na maaaring pagsumbungan.

How We Can Protect Ourselves from the Extreme Heat of the Sun

We all have to admit that summer is here. You may love the weather or hate it but no matter what, you have to think of ways to protect yourself from the extreme heat. There are repercussions if you would ignore this warning. Serious conditions can develop because of the heat. Here are some tips that you have to remember when you are exposed to the heat of the sun:

  • Wear sunglasses. Sunglasses especially if they have good UV protection like ray ban original wayfarer, can help protect the eyes since they are also sensitive to the harmful effects of the sun’s excessive heat.
  • Drink water. Not drinking water will make you dehydrated. This can lead to serious conditions like heat stroke and UTI (Urinary Tract Infection).
  • Slather on sunscreen to protect your skin. Do not take your skin for granted. You may want to tan but tanning will have harmful effects on the skin.

Protect yourself further from the heat of the sun by wearing comfortable clothing and hats to keep the rays of the sun away.

Reminiscing

Kids of today’s generation grow up so fast…I sent my kids to preschool while pulling their kids luggage one day, the next thing I knew, they’re taller than me and doing things on their own. They used to be dependent on me. Well, there are times that they still are. But most of the time they decide on their own without mommy’s help. Ah, kids… I wish I can keep them from growing up, but that would be too selfish of me… All I can do for now is to guide my children to become better persons they can be.
