‘I AM POSI+IVE’ : Filipino Youth Ambassadors to Promote HIV and AIDS Awareness Campaign in Schools and Campuses Nationwide

At least 17 young people trained to conduct HIV and AIDS awareness, education, and prevention drive in communities and schools were introduced at the launching of ‘I AM POSITIVE’ campaign at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel in Manila over the weekend.

The Youth AIDS Filipinas Alliance, Inc. (YAFA) trained these young people early this year to become active advocates of the HIV and AIDS program. They will be able to use their talents and skills to disseminate information on HIV prevention among their peers; support the young people’s access to health services; and help eliminate stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV.

The ‘I am POSI+IVE’ campaign has already visited schools in Tacloban City, some municipalities of Leyte (Eastern Visayas) and Zamboanga City (Western Mindanao).

The campaign, supported by MTV Staying Alive Foundation, HIV Young Leaders Fund and other partners such as the Manila Social Hygiene Clinic, will run until the end of 2011.

For those who are interested to bring the campaign to their schools or communities may contact YAFA at iampositive@youthaidsfilipinasalliance.org or call at (02) 489-9077.
