Exercise Tips for the Stay at Home Mom

It’s an unwritten rule that no fun and frivolous woman should be left behind in the fitness department. Just because you happen to be a Stay-At-Home-Mom, doesn’t mean you have an excuse not to be physically fit. Even if most of your days are spent cooped up in the confines of your home, you can still do these simple exercises to keep your bodies in tiptop shape.

As you do your household chores, you can do lots to burn calories. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone! Try putting on some dance music- whether its hiphop or salsa you fancy- and just mop away! You are sure to break up a sweat while cleaning the house and moving to the beat. It makes doing chores fun too, because you hardly feel time passing you by with the Backstreet Boys playing in the background.

Fill a couple of used mineral water bottles with water, and use them as makeshift dumbbells. Even as you watch your favorite soap on TV or checking out Hot Deals, you can work out your arms while lifting those dumbbells.

After stepping out of the shower, use your towel as a resistance band. Grasping a towel with your arms behind you, do back stretches to keep you limber.

Now you can give new meaning to the acronym SAHM: Sexy At Home Mom.

Productive SAHM

Few of my batchmates in college are stay-at-home moms like me. They used to be in the corporate world, too, but choose to be a SAHM to take care of their young kids while their husbands are working abroad. But being at home the whole day doesn’t mean we are less productive or doesn’t contribute to the family finances. I, for one, maintains several blogs. And I can safely say that I earn from them and has helped my husband pay our bills and sometimes pay our children’s tuition. Some of my batchmates are into business. One is into selling shoes, bags and clothes. One is into beads and accessory business. She sells pandora bracelet in offices and tiangges during holiday season. So now, who would say that being a SAHM can’t be independent and productive.
