My chick flick entry for this week is a Julia Roberts starer, Mona Lisa Smile.
Mona Lisa Smile tells the story of Katherine Ann Watson (Roberts), a teacher who studied at UCLA graduate school who leaves her boyfriend behind in Los Angeles to teach at Wellesley College, a conservative women’s private liberal arts college in Massachusetts, United States in 1953.
Watson encourages her students to study to become career professionals. She wants her students to lead the world and not just to live as the wife of somebody. She uses modern art to suggest that they need not conform to female stereotype, even introducing the students to the work of Jackson Pollock (abstract expressionist). She feels that women can do more than solely adopt the roles of wives and mothers. more

I watched this movie sometime ago and it is really a nice movie
@Anne, a lot of lessons to learn from it too. 🙂
i like this movie,one of my favorite.
I have seen this movie and I feel sorry for the women during those times that no matter how intelligent they are, they are just bound to be housewives. Wasted talent and possibilities of self improvement. Matagal ko na to napanood, di ko na maalala ang buong story, but I kind of recall some of it.

@Tatess, pareho tayo. 🙂
@Liz, nakakahinayang na talino. tapos women then (from the movie) will end up with the wrong man, sayang di ba? sa panahon ngayon hindi na ganyan mga ka-womenan natin! Wais na sila (tayo rin!) 😀
@Kimmy, thanks sis! tamang-tama nga sa mga teachers ang movie na ito. 🙂
