Looking for math-free careers

I’ve read this from Yahoo months (?) ago. Just in case you were looking or preparing for math-free careers, here they are.

Paralegal – helps lawyers prepare for cases through conducting research on laws and regulations, writing reports, and digging up facts.

Public Relations Specialist – you’d use communications – such as writing press releases and drafting speeches – to promote a positive image of an organization,

Graphic Designer – create the layout for different types of materials, such as brochures, corporate reports, or advertisements. Your work could involve using design software to communicate ideas that capture consumers’ attention.

Dental Assistant – they typically help dentists clean teeth, process x-rays, sterilize equipment, and keep records of dental treatments.

Police Officer – spend their time patrolling assigned areas, conducting traffic stops, and enforcing the law.

This doesn’t include a career in music, which we all know involves, mathematics. However, if you are involved in selling Guitar Center, krk rokit as promo officer, the job (I think) doesn’t require you to deal with numbers. The store cashier will take care of the computation for you.

Substitute artist

My daughter was really busy with her studies that I volunteered to do a couple of editorial cartoons for her. These cartoons appeared in People’s Tonight last week. Pardon the quality of drawings as I am not the expert when it comes to drawing, my daughter is. 🙂

palpa

The first one was the image of Retired Major Jovito Palparan Jr. who was arrested last week for the kidnapping and serious detention of two UP students in 2006.

The second image showed the “pact” between Christians and Muslims under the Bangsamoro Law which has yet to reach its final approval.

I enjoyed being an “artist” for a day or two. Not really keen on pursuing this new-found career though haha.

Career path

I always remind my daughter to study hard so she can make it to one of the prestigious state universities in the country. (Thanks to Riz for the inspiration. You know what I’m talking about. And I’m looking forward to receiving more valuable tips from you. 🙂 ). Most parents dream big for their children in terms of course(s) to take in college and a stable career right after college. I’m one of those hopeful parents. However, I’m trying not to pressure my kids (but not to be too lenient)  to excel in everything they do in school because they have limitations too. The only thing that I can do for now is to give them the support that they need to do well.

My daughter plans to take up fine arts in college.  She enjoys drawing very much and she wants to make a career out of it someday. Sometimes I wish she’ll also consider other courses that will lead her to get IT Jobs in the future like her older cousin who is working in a multinational company in Taguig.

My daughter is only 13 and she still has two more years to spend in high school. Her interests could still change, but she is really set on pursuing college education whatever school it may be.
