Should Churches Have Security Guards?

Violence is a national epidemic and even the decision to leave your home carries risks. Between school shootings, event tragedies, and shopping center attacks, countless of Americans congregate to their local or beloved house of worship to offer sympathy and pray for peace during the most disturbing times. Unfortunately, churches aren’t off limits to some the most depraved, disturbed, or violent domestic terrorists. There were nearly 140 church shootings between 1980 and 2005, and that number’s gotten so much bigger that there’s now a national church shooting database. Could those have been avoided or prevented with the right security measures? There’s no way to change the past, but there are some reasons a professional security guard may be beneficial to help reduce violent crime in churches and other houses of worship.

A Professional Security Guard Can Ease Underlying Burden

Members of a church’s congregation may opt to skip a sermon as the need arises, but that’s far more difficult for the actual religious leader of the establishment. Regardless of whom is in the house of worship, however, they are simply human. As such, a pastor, priest, rabbi, or Imam may have as strong emotions and fear as their followers. Yet, it’s their duty and responsibility to remain strong and offer praise, prayer, and hope on a weekly, and often daily, basis. The presence of a professional security guard can do wonders for moral support as the religious leaders help to ease burdens and provide hope for everyone in attendance.

A Professional Security Guard Can Help Channel Potential Chaos

In the event of a major scare or tragedy, the fight-or-flight response sets in and chaos can ensue. Even if someone swears it would never happen to them, the survival instinct is instilled in the human brain and the flight response is forced by the nervous system in times of great stress. The pastor or rabbi may actually find themselves among the scurrying congregation at the highest point of panic. A professional security guard can perform a variety of tasks to help ensure members and visitors alike stay calm and collected as they’re escorted to safety.

A Professional Security Guard Can Minimize Theft

Hopefully, disaster will never strike at your house of worship. But that doesn’t mean visitors and members won’t be targets of theft or other crime. Unoccupied rooms and parking lots are particularly common targets for petty and high-level criminals. Furniture and potentially valuable relics are easy to remove as the service commences. Unlocked vehicles are readily broken into for obvious valuables. Criminals can even get away with serious and often expensive damage to church property or locked cars without the right security elements in place. A professional security guard can be tasked with patrolling the property during service to help deter criminal activity.

A Professional Security Guard Can Help Your Congregation Grow

There are over 350,000 religious meeting houses nationwide, averaging 100-400 individuals per congregation. Most of those are open to the general public at some point and they all require active members to help the religious establishment fund various necessary programs to help the local residents and promote missionary endeavors. The monetary gifts and volunteer efforts from visitors and members are crucial to the survival of a religious institution. A bad or dangerous reputation can not only lead to low congregation numbers, but it can also ensure future members avoid the church altogether. Korner Security in Metro Detroit can provide the right professional security guard for your needs so your church can grow and flourish for years to come.

Crusade Against Cancer

There are a lot of people in this world who are suffering from Cancer. Some are able to detect their condition at the early stages so they are still able to bring their condition into remission. There are also some who only get to know their condition when their Cancer is already in the advanced stages. When people discover their disease too late, they know that they should just focus on their life in general and in healing.

More and more people are starting to believe that Gospel of the Kingdom can help people who are suffering from Cancer to be healed fully. Those who have attended the services were able to find inner peace and healing and some actually become cured from the type of Cancer that they have.

At this day and age, believing in miracles can be laughed at. The highly technological items that are available have made people stop believing in being faithful to their own God. Instead, they are just focused on making use of their different tools and their different gadgets.

If you are suffering from Cancer, take time to forget about your current troubles and your other problems in life. You can just focus on rediscovering God through the crusade against Cancer. This will allow you to rediscover the healing powers of the Lord. Why should you spend another day just pondering about the things that you could have done when you are now being given a chance to heal When you become part of the crusade, you can already experience the coming back of Christ here on earth.

Rekindle family ties

I had a brief chat with my younger half brother Jo, who is a priest, the other day. It’s been decades since I last saw him. I think, I was finishing a college degree while he is pursuing a priestly vocation that time. I have a family of my own now. He is a full-fledged priest.

The chat was about his invitation for me to attend the 40th day after death mass for our father. I wasn’t able to go because I was recuperating from a health condition. He said he will just send me pictures of the mass. He did send me photos of the small gathering attended by family members, my other half siblings and cousins, aunts and uncle from my dad’s side of the family. The mass was held at the memorial park. It was decorated by a tarpaulin bearing dad’s photo and a bible verse wall decals attach to it.

Jo said he wish to meet me to talk about our dad and maybe resolve some issues involving me and our father. He knows that I didn’t experience living with our dad since I was born. He said he wish to rekindle our relationship as brother and sister and someday heal the wounds of the past. It was a good gesture on his part to reach out to me which I really appreciate. I also wish to meet them soon.

The 40th Day after death is a traditional memorial service, family gathering, ceremonies and rituals in memory of the departed on the 40th day after his/her death. The 40th Day concludes the 40 day memorial period and has a major significance in traditions of Orthodox Slavs. It is believed that the soul of the departed remains wandering on Earth during the 40 day period, coming back home, visiting places the departed has lived in as well as his fresh grave. The soul also completes the journey through the Aerial toll house finally leaving this world. The rituals during the period aim to let the soul go in order to keep it from returning and bothering the living. – wikipedia
